All Meritus Signature Homes are built to Energy Star standards, meaning that they meet the guidelines for energy efficiency set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. By employing these energy-conserving measures, homeowners save an average of $200 – $400 per year on heating, cooling, and water heating compared to standard homes. The additional savings on home maintenance can also be quite substantial, and if you finance your home with an Energy Star or similar mortgage, you can possibly benefit from additional discounts.
Meritus is also trained and certified to build EarthCraft homes, as well. EarthCraft is a residential green building program that serves as a blueprint for energy- and resource-efficient homes. While builders and home buyers have freedom in selecting which environmental measures are best suited for the home they are constructing, homes must meet all of the Energy Star certification criteria in order to achieve EarthCraft House certification.
